Seeking the sacred
The Hierophant suggests a period of introspection. You are embarking on a new spiritual path and following your intuition. While this card often represents new beginnings, it also has traditional energy.
You connect to something bigger. A profound flash of insight makes sense of it all, even if just for a moment. The supernatural ambitions of your ancestors stir within you.
You may find yourself contemplating your heritage and identity today. Who are you? Where do you come from? Who do you honour from your past and how do you honour them?
You are a student who is learning. You are a teacher who is sharing. You may be engaged in ceremony or tradition.
Forge your own path, yes, but also learn from the wisdom of the ages.
Tend to your altar.
Upright:
You may be engaged in a period of intense learning to study the rules or practices of your discipline. If you have already mastered your field of study, you may be teaching or mentoring others. You may have resumed your regular yoga practice or started preparations to honour family traditions at the next holiday. You may have recently started a new job or relationship or are about to.
Reversed:
On one hand, you may be on autopilot, while on the other hand, fiercely challenging the status quo. If you’ve been following the crowd but are no longer comfortable with the way the herd is running, it’s time to go your own way and make your own rules. Don’t let distaste for religious institutions prevent you from connecting from a community manifestation of spirit. It is medicine. As one of the few pillar cards of the Tarot deck, the Hierophant is a reminder that information is key to your situation.
